We provide product certification (approval) services globally for all types of cable and wire, for ancillary products, and also provide management systems certification for the cable sector. Due to continuous growth, we are seeking a Certification & Compliance Manager to join our successful operation in Milton Keynes. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join a rewarding organisation to direct and manage the Certification department. Your main duties for Certification will include: Driving the certification strategy , including the review, maintenance, development and continuing improvement of BASEC’s certification schemes, rules and regulations, compliance to BASEC’s quality manual and procedures, and the maintenance and development of related accreditations. Overall commercial responsibility for the Certification department, including budgeting and planning, ensuring it meets its operational, revenue and financial targets, ensuring tight cost control, and meeting specified service levels. Line manager for Certification department staff, including supervision, training and appraisal. Ensuring the effective and efficient operation of administration and technical certification work, the deployment of staff and subcontracted services. Client certification projects, including their establishment, planning, execution and related decision making, ensuring all projects are progressed promptly. Proactive preparation of audit programmes, audit plans, scheduling of audit visits, the assignment of audit teams, the review of audit reports, procurement of samples and related certification decisions, to optimise revenue streams. Client management and client satisfaction with BASEC’s certification services, including the handling of complaints against clients’ products and against BASEC. Make recommendations to the Chief Executive for proposed certification sanctions to be applied to clients, as necessary. Compliance Duties: Implement, maintain and improve the documented management system operated by BASEC. Manage accreditations and quality management for the BASEC group’s certification and testing activities to ISO/IEC 17021-1, ISO/IEC 17065, and ISO/IEC 17025, adopting the quality manager role and liaising with accreditation bodies. Duties include the design, maintenance and revision of the applied quality system, scopes, manuals, procedures, other documents and related records, providing oversight of internal quality control, competency, calibration / verification, action chasing and internal reporting. Manage the BASEC group’s technical recognitions and appointments with regulatory bodies, specifier groups and related activities, including Notified Body activities. Provide regular reports on compliance, accreditation, quality and recognition issues to management, and to the Audit Committee and Board. Technical and General Duties: Oversee BASEC’s acquisition and use of external technical standards and related documents, including library maintenance and the conduct of technical reviews. Undertake certification / testing scheme development projects, and internal standards development projects in co-ordination with the Technical Director. Support BASEC’s response to technical enquiries (via email, phone, website), routing these appropriately to the sales, technical, or other teams. Co-ordinate and manage the complaints process in co-ordination with the Technical Director, including complaint receipt, testing and site visits (as required), determination and reporting to complainant parties and to the Audit Committee Undertake technical contract review activities, and other office based duties as instructed by the Technical Director. Any other reasonable request of management. This position is based at the BASEC offices in Milton Keynes but may also be required to visit other locations, such as sites, factories, facilities and offices of other organisations including, but not limited to, clients, partners or subcontractors, anywhere in the world. Relevant experience: Essential Skills Excellent oral and written communication skills. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar technical role. Knowledge of standards, accreditation, certification and testing activities. Proven ability as a self-starter, and to meet targets Proven ability to meet targets. Qualified lead auditor for QMS. Preferred Criteria Experience of cable manufacturing. Knowledge of management system standards. Knowledge of cable / electrical / polymer standards. Knowledge and experience of manufacturing / process industries. International business experience. Project management experience.
