Overview
Our client is an international non-profit that drives companies and governments to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources and protect forests. Our client is seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Architect to work with them to help design the data ecosystem of the future. You will be assisting with the building of a new large-scale Data and Analytics platform, hosted on the cloud, incorporating your knowledge and expertise of Big Data, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence. You will work with Microsoft SQL Server along with complementary new technologies such as Microsoft Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, Streaming Data, NoSQL. Reporting to the Head of Data & Insight you will be responsible for creating the company wide Data Architecture, within the data ecosystem in line with agreed business standards and strategy. Our client is a highly agile and flexible organisation that achieves a considerable amount with a very lean administration so you must be self-motivated, task and results orientated. This role will be based in offices in the City of London near Tower Bridge; however, flexible working will be considered. Key responsibilities include: Define and manage the overall Data Architecture & strategic roadmap. Define & deliver a clear & strategic Data Architecture roadmap in alignment with the wider IT organisation and business. Significant experience in the capacity of Enterprise Architect or Data Architect, with extensive experience leading Information/ Data Architecture across an organisation. Define, govern and manage the Data Architecture principles, blueprints, Data patterns and technology standards. Identify important potential technologies and approaches to address current and future Data needs, evaluating their applicability and fit, as well as leading the definition of standards and best practice for their use. Work closely with other members of the Data & Insight team to ensure they have appropriate access to the data they need ahead of them interrogating and manipulating potentially large data sets. Building comprehensive tests (in integrity, presence and quality) to create confidence in the data we produce and use to increase the trust in our data. Support others in defining and managing the Architecture and Technology governance processes for our Data ecosystem and coach and mentor members of the team to provide technical oversight. Responsible for identifying how Information & Data can be better used. Consult with and influence key stakeholders in the selection of Data Technologies, strategic applications, vendors and suppliers. Consistently demonstrate strong experience in Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Database architectures, design patterns, best practices, and programming techniques around relational modelling, dimensional modelling and data integration. Undertake the quality assurance of new & developed data structures and associated components (entity descriptions, relationship descriptions, attribute definitions). Develop detailed knowledge of the appropriate corporate data standards and of the appropriate professional and/or legal data standards. Required skills and experience: Extensive (8 yrs) years practical IT architecture experience and 5 years of experience in driving Meta data architecture and Master Data Management Solutions. Has a familiarity with MS Dynamics CRM 2016 & In-depth understanding of database structure principles. Have a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving with demonstrable verbal and written communications skills. Strong knowledge of architecture methodologies, principles and frameworks, ideally TOGAF and has practical experience of defining technology domain roadmaps. Proficient in Information modelling using tools and techniques (manual or automated) which can be used to document an understanding of the structure, relationships and use of information within an organisation. Experience with Big Data/Hadoop/NoSQL, Visualisation and reporting tools, data profiling analysis and transformation & experience of Cloud Data technologies, solutions and future Cloud Data Strategies. Have a great understanding of how to build a data model that underpins Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and automated translation engines. Strong understanding of activities within primary discipline such as Master Data management (MDM), Metadata Management and Data Governance (DG). Have excellent interpersonal skills and be fully experienced at dealing with stakeholders at all levels globally. Preferred previous experience within large, complex enterprises who operate in the B2B space in Financial Services, Insurance, Central Government or other regulated environments. Experience of different IT delivery approaches (waterfall, agile, lean, SCRUM…) Be a self-starter who is self-sufficient with a cost-conscious way of working. Desired skills and experience Experience with data collection systems gained in a regulatory, corporate reporting or similar environment. In addition, you should have experience of DICE the IBM Digital Insights driven Cognitive Enterprise and be aware of IBM Watson’s capabilities. Significant experience of business process change and systems integration projects Familiar with principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of the testing process and the execution of tests throughout the lifecycle of development projects. Experience with Database Administration for MSSQL Server in enterprise environments. Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems and implementing operational automation using scripts.
