Overview

The Role: Our client are a truly pioneering, venture capital backed Health Technology company, now entering a new and tremendously exciting phase of its development, looking to accelerate its growth to turn over more than £1bn. It’s an amazing time to join a company with incredible potential to improve the lives of many millions of people globally, playing a key role in its development as Chief Revenue Officer, a key member of the Executive Team reporting directly to the CEO. Part of a highly experienced, lean and visionary team, the role is primarily concerned with ensuring the commercial success of the organisation through a combination of strong business development and technical selling solution skills. As Chief Revenue Officer your responsibilities will include: Driving the development and execution of the business’ commercialisation strategy. As products are developed, there will be a need to convince clinicians and a wider ecosystem that they work. When appropriate funding is in place, building the commercialisation infrastructure, and organisation, to drive market adoption of the company’s products, being responsible for revenue growth within the organisation Taking a global perspective on market opportunities and leading in the assessment and prioritisation of the same - geographic as well as between different market segments Generating awareness of and excitement for the company’s vision with a range of interested parties including Government, investors, healthcare providers, insurers and, eventually, consumers Inspiring confidence and generating excitement, enthusiasm and commitment as the company executes its business plans - internally as well as externally Making sure that all functions of the organisation are aligned to meet its strategic commercial objectives within the overall business plan Developing and driving the pricing strategy of the organisation As Chief Revenue Officer you’ll be/need: A proven leader with an outstanding track record gained delivering transformative diagnostic technologies, perhaps most likely in a similar role, Chief Commercial Officer/CCO, Senior Commercial Manager, Director of Business Development, Chief Revenue Officer/CRO, Sales Director, Senior Business Development Manager (BDM) or Senior Sales Manager type role, accessing pharma and diagnostic companies Demonstrable experience in developing and executing successful commercialisation strategies in early-stage companies - comfortable and/or experienced working in a small (say, medical device/(IVDs)) company for several years, even in a very senior role The ability to build the team of your dreams to take on the world as the company grows Marketing skills will be welcome, but there will be other marketing capability in house and externally Knowledge/experience of venture capital, grant funding, UK healthcare or health insurance industries, NHS and/or organisations like the National Physics Laboratory (NPL) , Laboratory of the Government Chemist (LGC) advantageous Experience in the development of the regulatory framework for diagnostic products and of government initiatives such as Accelerated Access Review (AAR) and Innovation and Technology Payment (ITP) also desirable Additional Chief Commercial Officer /CCO personal attributes: An incredibly hands-on approach - keen to be involved with, and perhaps experienced in, the start of commercialisation efforts Highly persuasive, able to generate awareness of and excitement for the company’s vision - capable of, and perhaps experienced in, activity such as convincing an industry giant that our client’s protein measurement system, suitably automated, should form a big part of their next generation hospital analysers. Similarly, a proven ability to open doors, talk passionately and build working relations with some/all of government, healthcare providers, insurers and consumers will be regarded favourably. Strong strategic, creative thinking, communication, negotiation and analytical skills to develop solutions to complex business challenges, products and routes to market A great deal of flexibility and an exceptionally innovative approach Good organisational, IT and administrative skills The capacity and willingness to undertake extensive business travel in the UK and internationally, potentially at weekends and outside of normal business hours - a full, clean UK driving licence is attractive
