Overview

This Group Accountant job in Edinburgh with a leading Scottish business is a fantastic opportunity for a fully qualified accountant working with a global accountancy firm looking to make a "first move" into industry. Working with a variety of stakeholders, up to and including the Group Finance Director, your duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Assist in the preparation of the quarterly and annual consolidated group financial statements. This will include responsibility for the group consolidation journals, reviewing consolidation summaries and preparing the necessary footnotes to support the group financial statements Provide research, documentation and technical support to the group finance team, primarily around IFRS technical issues Stay informed as to new accounting issues that will likely impact the future results of the business Liaise with key members of the group-wide accounting team and other functional department personnel to help identify and/or resolve issues and initiatives Design, implement and monitor internal controls. Responsible for developing and/or identifying new controls required for financial control so as to improve the overall control environment Be a key contributor in the external audit process. You will be given certain aspects of the year-end audit to manage directly, for example certain footnotes, cash flow statement etc. However, this role is not exhaustive and as you become more familiar with the business, you will be given ample opportunity to participate in other key initiatives across the group, for example future acquisitions. To be successful as Group Accountant, it is envisaged that you will be a fully qualified accountant, with post-qualified experience and be operating at Assistant Manager level or equivalent with a global accountancy firm. You must have thorough experience of IFRS and have experience of writing technical accounting papers or researching technical accounting issues as well as an understanding of group consolidated financial statements including cashflow statements.
