Overview

This is a unique opportunity to join a growing business within the utilities sector based in Edinburgh looking to appoint a Group Financial Accountant into their Finance team. This position will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of key accounting initiatives. Key responsibilities include: Preparation of the quarterly and annual consolidated group financial statements. This will include responsibility for the group consolidation journals, reviewing consolidation summaries and preparing the necessary footnotes to support the group financial statements. Review of month-end income statement and balance sheets for the projects, as well as service entities. Record equity method adjustments for unconsolidated affiliates. Provide research, documentation and technical support to the group finance team, which primarily relates to IFRS technical issues. Design, implement, and monitor internal controls. Responsible for developing and/or identifying new controls required for financial control so as to improve the overall control environment. Key contributor in the external audit process. Person will be given certain aspects of the year-end audit to manage directly, for example certain footnotes, cash flow statement etc. Opportunity to gain exposure to projects and key initiatives across the group. In order to be considered for the role: You will be a qualified accountant ideally with 2-3 years PQE (CA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent) Maintian strong IFRS technical knowledge Sound business intelligence The ideal candidate will either be making their first move from practice into industry or will be practice trained with industry experience The organisation is offering a competitive salary and benefits package.
