UK Biobank have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Facilities Officer to join their growing team based in Cheadle. Job Title: Senior Facilities Officer Location: Cheadle (will be required to travel to additional sites) Salary: £28,728 per annum Hours: 35 hours per week (Tues –Sat 8:00AM – 4:00PM), Training period will be Monday to Friday 8:00AM – 4:00PM Senior Facilities Officer - The Role: A new and exciting opportunity for a Senior Facilities Officer has arisen at UK Biobank. As the Senior Facilities Officer you will be working in a small team ensuring there is a high quality, cost effective and efficient building / facilities service across each of the UK Biobank sites (Cheadle, Newcastle, Reading & Bristol). This is a varied role where you can expect to be involved in fault diagnosis and first line repairs on numerous plant and laboratory systems as well as assisting in managing site services in line with health and safety regulations. Senior Facilities Officer - The Organisation: UK Biobank is a major national health resource set up with the aim of improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of serious and life-threatening illnesses. Between 2006 and 2010, UK Biobank recruited over 500,000 volunteers from across the country to take part; all donated biological samples for future analysis and provided detailed health related information about themselves. Enhancement projects are now underway to add further value to this valuable research resource. UK Biobank was established with the backing of a number of major funding bodies and is a registered charity. Whilst we are physically headquartered in Cheadle, direction and strategy take input from senior academics and other experts from across the UK and around the world. Senior Facilities Officer - You: Essential - Experience of supporting complex facilities infrastructure and services - Demonstrable aptitude for using laboratory equipment/software. - Experience of working to recognised quality systems and to strict health and safety regulations - Full, clean driving license - The ability to manage subcontractors on site, including implementation of permit to work scheme where appropriate - Able to undertake daily checks of key systems (e.g. sample storage system temperatures) ensuring that faults do not result in compromised sample integrity (systems monitored 24/7; routine checks carried out 7 days per week) Desirable - IT literate; use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word PowerPoint etc.) Senior Facilities Officer – Benefits: We offer a competitive salary, 26 days holiday, membership of the USS pension scheme, salary sacrifice schemes, staff discount scheme, life assurance cover and other employee benefits.
