Overview

MCL Medics is currently recruiting for a full-time Occupational Health Nurse to join our team in Aberdeen. This role is responsible for supporting the service delivery of the full remit of occupational health services; including case management, health surveillance and medical assessments. The work is delivered at client sites and MCL Medics’ Clinic in Aberdeen. You will be the face of 'quality service' for MCL Medics and be responsible for the advice given and the service perception of the employee and client organisation. Key Responsibilities Advising and delivering nurse led fitness for work medical assessments. Delivering medical screening results to the physicians for doctor led medical assessments. Providing support for sickness absence management for clients, giving advice as required on the referral process and also promptly triaging referrals into the service for the booking team. Conducting all nurse led consultations in a professional manner working within expected standards of confidentiality, complete accurate reporting to the expected standard of the business and within any agreed time-frames/KPI. Recognising and escalating cases appropriately to an Occupational Health Physician either via health surveillance or sickness absence management. Delivering management reports from nurse lead sickness absence consultations addressing the client organisation’s needs but working within the recognised occupational health ethical framework for fitness advice. Where required making the necessary requests for GP/specialist reports to support the decision making process. Advise clients on their risk assessment process to facilitate delivery of appropriate health surveillance requirements, in line with the appropriate Legislation. Working with IT and the OH Clinical team to develop and take ownership of MCL Medics’ electronic health surveillance system. Educating employees within the business and within client companies as needed on aspects of occupational health, health education and health promotion. Maintaining accurate individual medical records which comply with internal business standards and clinical standards. Acting at all times in accordance with the NMC Professional Practice and Code of Conduct. Maintaining Client confidentiality and working within the framework of the Data Protection Act. Acting in accordance with local policies and procedures laid down by the business and external clients. Maintaining effective communication with colleagues in the multi-disciplinary team, managers, clients and external agencies to ensure a seamless service delivery Demonstrating IT skills to enable access to relevant information. i.e., management, clinical and external. Ensuring the safe use and maintenance of equipment. Ensuring resources are utilised in a manner consistent with MCL Medics’ objectives and policies. Ensuring knowledge and understanding of all MCL Medics’ processes, procedures, policies and standards and ensuring correct implementation. Supporting clinical governance issues and best practice standards including regular clinical audit Support lead nurses in relation to Client Reviews. Essential Qualifications Must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered General Nurse, RN1, RNA Occupational health qualification at Degree level desired but not essential HAVS: a Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM) approved training course in hand-arm vibration syndrome, or equivalent level of competency desirable but not essential. Noise-induced hearing loss: a British Society for Audiology approved course for industrial audiometricians, or equivalent level of competency desirable. Respiratory: Association for Respiratory Technology and Physiology (ARTP) diploma, or equivalent level of competency. Experience Previous experience in Occupational Health with a background covering various occupational health settings and environments.
