Job Description
An opportunity has arisen for a well motivated and enthusiastic assistant practitioner with proven experience at band 4 healthcare support worker level to support trained Occupational Therapy staff providing a service in neurosurgery and neurosciences at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Input will include gaining baseline information from patients and being responsible for the assessment and treatment, within agreed protocols, of an agreed group of patients within the neurological conditions service ensuring a needs led service to patients in the hospital as well as assisting in the resettlement of patients at home. Excellent communication both written and verbal is essential for this role as is the ability to problem solve and adapt tasks as required to meet the needs of the patients. The department offers a supportive working environment with good professional supervision networks as well as opportunities for in-service training. No formal Occupational Therapy qualification is required but previous experience of working as a healthcare support worker with this patient group would be an advantage as would an appropriate HNC qualification.
