They are using their experience, scale and financial strength to deliver new homes and communities across the country. These are at a range of price points and tenures from private sale to social rent. Any profits generated are invested back into social purpose. Recently they have created their own private development company which delivers and markets homes for private sale and leads on land acquisition. They also have a strong track record on regenerating existing estates and breathing new life into communities. Main purpose of the role We’re looking for an exceptional Cost Planner to provide professional cost plans and technical reports in order to help our client realise their ambition. Reporting directly to the Cost Planning and Estimating Director, you’ll take ownership and accountability for multiple projects, ensuring they are delivered on time. You’ll be responsible for identifying project risks, rewards, and constraints and preparing qualification schedules and risk registers. We’ll require you to understand scheme documents, technical reports and drawings and disseminate the information with speed and high levels of accuracy. Initially, you’ll be able to measure from first principles on drawings or digitally through blue beam and have the ability to predict the scheme requirements based on experience. You’ll be required to present measured works in a neat and accurate fashion that can be understood by others. As a member of the development department, you’ll be tasked with assisting the Group in winning new work by providing accurate cost planning measures. Your other responsibilities will include: Benchmarking PQS tender returns and live projects. Benchmark cost plans to schemes of similar nature and be able to describe where differences occur and the effect on the cost plan. Reviewing available information and preparing cost plans for schemes of 100 to 5,000 units. With a solid background as cost planner in a developer organisation, you will already have knowledge of all forms of traditional and modern methods of construction and be able to apply the correct build form to the scheme. We’ll look to you to utilise your excellent numeracy, IT and communication skills in all that you do, and have confidence in talking to staff, clients, consultants, and contractors at all levels. Ideally you will hold formal construction industry qualifications, a sound knowledge of market conditions and a good understanding of the Social Housing Environment which you will use to inform the many important decisions you will be required to take.
