Infrastructure Engineer London £37,000 - £43,000 perm benefits Windows | O365 | Server | Infrastructure | Storage | Azure | Cloud A leading educational institute is currently recruiting for an Infrastructure Engineer to be responsible for support, development, maintenance and on-going improvement of my clients ICT infrastructure systems. You will be involved in physical and virtual servers, core applications, SANs, data centres etc. ensuring that these services are effective and efficient and meet defined SLA's. RESPONSIBILITIES: To ensure that ICT Infrastructure-related incidents and problems are resolved and services requested are fulfilled in accordance with agreed service level targets. To ensure that all ICT changes are logged, approved and implemented in accordance with the ICT Services Change Management Policy and Process. To be responsible for ensuring that virus protection software is installed on all relevant Infrastructure components and that this is operational and effective. To proactively manage Office365 and MS-Exchange, including availability, performance and security. To plan and implement upgrades to ICT Infrastructure systems in order to minimise service disruption to users. To participate in the evaluation, design, implementation and support of new and changed ICT Infrastructure systems and related system management tools. To perform ICT Infrastructure systems maintenance, security and integrity tasks and install operating systems, upgrades and patches as required. This may require work to be done outside normal working hours. To ensure that system/data backups are undertaken in accordance with the ICT backup policy and procedures and that test restores are undertaken on a regular basis. To implement defined and agreed improvements to ICT Infrastructure Services to time, cost and quality criteria. To participate in ICT Infrastructure Support on-call rotas for out-of-hours support as and when required. CRITERIA Good knowledge and experience of supporting ICT Infrastructure systems, including servers (physical and virtual), core applications (e.g. Microsoft Exchange, Office 365), middleware (e.g. IBM Tivoli products), system management/monitoring/alerting tools, scripting languages, SANs, VSphere, common network protocols and related services across a diverse and complicated organisation. Knowledge of ITIL Relevant technical certification essential (Microsoft, VMware, etc.) Good knowledge of data centre technologies, concepts, tools and practices, and industry standards and trends. Experience in maintaining both local and private/public cloud based, large-scale, complex systems and new/changed IT Infrastructure services. A thorough knowledge of server operating systems (e.g. MS-Windows and LINUX) and related system management tools. Strong technical problem solving skills and experience
