Overview

Marks Sattin are delighted to be recruiting for a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Management Accountant to join a progressive business currently going through year on year growth based in Birmingham. The role is to provide timely and accurate management information to allow the Board of Directors and other managers to make business decisions. Also, to ensure the division adheres to financial controls which ensure the financial protection of the company. Ideally you will be a Qualified Accountant with demonstrable hands on accounts experience. You will possess excellent analytical skills and be able to prepare management information for both internal and external stakeholders. Role Responsibilities Supporting timely production of the monthly management accounts, including preparing and posting journals; To produce key reports within the management account accurately and to strict deadlines (The specific reports that are the responsibility of the Management Accountant will change over time and be specifically allocated); To provide appropriate commentary, analysis and financial advice in relation to the performance of the UK Division Complete and review balance sheet control accounts in preparation for final review with the group accountant on a monthly basis; Liaising with auditors and producing relevant working papers; Responsible for collating the annual budgets by liaising with relevant divisional managers; Providing absence cover for key tasks undertaken within the Finance team; Responsibility for ensuring the departmental procedures are reviewed, updated and improved; Complete adhoc projects as requested by the Finance Director and Financial Controller; Desirable Skills Understanding of profit and loss, balance sheet and accounting entries and postings Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) at all levels of the business Commercial awareness: numerate and analytical - an ability to explain financial information in a clear way IT skills - Accounting system experience, outlook, word, PowerPoint and advanced MS Excel, database experience an advantage Able to work well as part of a team Well planned and organised Confidentiality and discretion Desirable Qualifications Professional accountancy qualification (preferably ACCA / CIMA) Desirable Experience Management Accountant experience is desireable, but also considering a newly qualified first-time mover from practice Experience of an ERP system implementation would be advantageous
