Overview

Be part of a leading children’s therapeutic care service, working directly with vulnerable children and young people whilst contributing to the effective management of the home. This is a great career opportunity for an experienced children and young people's support worker to develop their coaching, mentoring and organisational skills. The home that you will be working in provides therapeutic care for children and young people aged 12 to 17 who have challenging behaviours as a result of significant abuse and negative earlier experiences. Role and responsibilities Working effectively as a team with the support of the organisation’s therapists, clinical psychologists, health and education professionals, you will help the children regain their confidence and realise their full potential as young adults. You will encourage each young person to be involved in all aspects of their care. This will involve skill development, problem solving and assessment of risk, while being mindful of their individual capabilities. You will support the Home Manager in providing the best quality childcare in a safe and care focussed environment for the young people. When on shift you will have responsibilities for monitoring and supervision of staff and take responsibility for the day to day management, and guidance of colleagues. The position will require you to work on average 3 long-day shifts and 2 sleep ins per week which will include some weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis. Candidates are required to have: A minimum of two years, recent experience of working in a children’s home. A full driving license An NVQ3 Working with Children & Young People or Diploma level 3 Residential Childcare.
