Job description: MI Systems Analyst Reporting to Lead Analyst The Role The MI Systems Analyst will be expected to translate data and user requirements into Functional Requirements, Data Catalogues, Data Dictionaries and Test Plans that can be used by the MIS development team for development of Data Warehouse reporting applications. This is a key role within the analyst team, and the role holder will be expected to act as an intermediary between the business, business analysts and the MIS development team. Key responsibilities are: Document as-is and to-be business reporting data models, processes and workflows, identifying relevant problems with existing systems and processes. Support impact assessments for data warehouse developments. Prepare change proposals, functional specifications, data catalogues and test plans for use by the MIS development teams. Manage the creation of Data Dictionaries for new data warehouse systems developments and updates resulting from changes to systems already operational. Validate and prioritise requirements with business users and MIS development teams. Articulate and formulate KPI’s, analytics and data insight. The skills and experience required are: Ideally a minimum of five years’ experience in an MI/data driven environment working with large and complex data systems. Strong analytical skills to deconstruct complex data models and reporting systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with different levels of the organisation Experienced in providing data-based evidence to support organisational decision making Capable of planning and monitoring own analysis activities and assessing impacts to deadlines when priorities change. Exposure to data analysis and reporting tools e.g. Business Objects, SPSS. Skills in SQL, ideally Oracle PL/SQL, and MS-Excel. Knowledge of Financial Services sector would be preferable.
