Overview

Investigo are delighted to be supporting a large Milton Keynes based Retailer with their recruitment of a Gross Margin Accountant, on a permanent basis. The purpose of the role is to ensure a high level of financial control in the accurate accounting for all margin adjustments outside of trading margin. The Role: Process and execute standard period end deliverables associated with all areas of margin adjustments accounting accurately and on time, ensuring all is in line with the organisation's accounting policies Responsible for accounting for all margin adjustments including sales adjustments, cash discounts, supplier funding, freight/duty etc, pricing variances and FX impacts Prepare periodic balance sheet reconciliations and commentary for margin balance sheets, ensuring that all variances are investigated and explained Support external audit preparation and any Internal Audit requirements Prepare the budget, forecast and latest view for all margin adjustments, and monitor associated risks and opportunities Consistently and regularly review and improve controls and processes around margin accounting Work closely with the Trading Finance team to ensure a shared understanding of the overall margin position and any issues that required commercial engagement Work with Operations on improving operational processes and educating Operational colleagues on their impact on margin accounting processes Closely work with the Technology team to mitigate/fix any systems defects/issues impacting the accounting and reporting of margin Support Finance Transformation activity as required Perform a high standard of ad hoc analysis supporting the Senior Finance Manager and Financial Controller Deputise for the Finance Manager - Gross Margin Accounting, as appropriate You: Professional Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) Experience in a large company environment, preferably Retail Effective communicator with stakeholders, ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders & build trusted relationships Team player, able to work effectively within frameworks without direct supervision Strong commercial acumen Experience in financial accounting and reporting and the systems to support such processes, with a strong understanding of the importance of strong financial control Experience in driving process simplification and improvements and a desire for continuous improvement to be best in class Strong planning and prioritisation skills Strong presentation and communication skills (both verbal & written) Resilience (flexible and able to cope with time pressure, risk & ambiguity) Our Client is offering a salary of £40,000 - £45,000 Benefits, and genuine progression scope.
