POSITION SUMMARY: The Shipping Team Leader manages a small team and has responsibility for ensuring accurate timely and efficient shipping of items from and to the Glasgow site, monitoring and taking corrective action where necessary. Provides a high level of proactive customer service to clients and acts as a point of contact to resolve problems as they arise. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Shipping Transport management from/to customers using air, road or sea freight (using nominated freight & logistics companies). Liaison with Dover nominated carriers and customer nominated carriers. Processing all aspects of import/export documents, customs entries and compliance for export and import entries and clearance through customs via Pacejet system and liaise with Glasgow Chamber of Commerce when required on documentation. Responsible for process compliance throughout the logistics timeline. Communicating verbally and via email with customers and third parties to ensure end to end targets are achieved and despatch complies with Incoterms and customer requirements. Ensuring usage of incoterms / commodity code / tariff codes are accurate. Use of security training to share knowledge and drive Glasgow facility forward to Known Consignor Status Adopts a continuos improvement approach to shipping operations Responsibility for both Fluid Film and InproSeal shipments from Glasgow facility Leadership Accountable for all aspects of Shipping & Logistics department (EHS, Quality, People & Continuous Improvement & Operations) Create and maintain a positive and motivated team and environment Prioritise and allocate workload within the team setting goals and objectives for team members aligned to overall business strategy. Plan, track, analyse and monitor KPIs for the team and day to day activities as well as longer term objectives Provide feedback and support through regular effective regular recorded one to ones, annual appraisals, performance reviews Be an approachable first point of contact for, and manage, all performance, attendance, disciplinary and welfare issues within which might arise within the team. Support employee development through identification of skills gaps and future requirements promote multi skilling Participate in internal/ external audits to ensure compliance with all Shipping policies Contribute fully as a member of the Supply Chain management team. CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS: Higher education in relevant field Cargo Security Level D training desirable but not essential Further BIFA training desirable but not essential Numerate with intermediate IT skills to analyse data and report key metrics SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Desired: Experience working in/managing a business to a Known Consignor status. Experience and knowledge of the freight industry ideally working for a Tier 1 global Freight & Logistics company Experience in up to date usage of incoterms / commodity code / tariff codes. Experience in compliance procedure throughout the logistics process. Excellent communication and customer service skills Experience in leading a team and driving results to deadlines Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
