Overview

Siemens Energy are looking for a qualified accountant to join our Accounting Principles team as a Technical Accounting Advisor. This role will be based in Frimley, Surrey. You will be required to collaborate with our extensive network of businesses in the United Kingdom as well as in North West Europe and Germany, working with people throughout the organisation at every level. As a technical advisor you will need to be able to take the lead in aligning the treatment for complex, non-routine accounting topics and be able to share the learnings coming out of the decisions reached. How will you do it? · Provide guidance and support in dealing with accounting queries, focussing on revenue recognition, hedge accounting etc · Assisting with the coordination and queries on IFRS 16 which was rolled out in October 2019 · Learning about Siemens in accounting for complex and non-routine transactions during special projects · Liaise with other teams in Siemens and the external auditor on identified accounting topics · Contribute to the development of and ensuring appropriate IFRS knowledge by providing trainings to the finance and accounting community on a regular basis and in case of accounting policy change · Provide ongoing training on complex accounting topics to our finance and commercial community · Contribute to a continuous improvement of accounting and reporting processes for internal and external purposes and training of the application of those processes What do you need? · Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and of financial reporting and implementation guidelines · Strong technical accounting and analytical expertise · Experience with IFRS 16 and 15 highly preferred · Experience in the assessment of complex and non-routine accounting transactions · Qualification as ACA, CPA or equivalent are highly preferred · Basic knowledge of M&A, tax and legal requirements for companies · IT literate; capable in PowerPoint, Word and Excel · Structured and independent style of work · Excellent communication and collaboration skills It’s incredibly important that our people enjoy working here and therefore we take great pride in having a friendly, helpful and engaging culture.
