Data Architect Role - 6 month contract - Canary Wharf To work within the Monarch Programme to lead and support the development of Data Architecture to ensure that the programme designs and delivers against business requirements and goals. The consultant will use a range of agile techniques and knowledge of software and infrastructure development, working closely with the scrum delivery teams and IT. This is a "hands on" Data Architecture role. Main responsibilities Oversee the development of data architecture and designs for the programme, ensuring an appropriate balance between short-term delivery needs and medium-term strategic goals. Build and maintain catalogues and data models at appropriate levels of abstraction. Ensure cross-programme alignment of application, reporting and migration data models to provide consistency and quality across the Monarch solution and IT applications as appropriate. Ownership and oversight of data related architectural decisions. Ensure that the Monarch programme understand and comply with data governance, standards and policies. Provide technical guidance and advice on data architecture to Monarch delivery work-streams from an early stage (in planning) ensuring they follow an optimal direction from the outset. Carry out and oversee the capture of data related requirements, including types, definitions, descriptions, constraints, relationships and quality aspects, in support of backlog delivery priorities as set by product owners. Oversee, assist, guide and take oversight responsibility for the output quality of other data specialists and analysts on the programme. Lead input of data related requirements to the forward increment planning process to ensure that future data requirements and dependencies are defined in time to support decisions on scope, and lead the development of design and decision options as appropriate. Maintain oversight of the data aspects of solution design and ensure changes from agreed solutions are managed through appropriate governance. Propose appropriate techniques to identify and meet data challenges in the programme. Ways of working Present and explain programme related data architecture matters in governance and other fora where required. Lead investigations to troubleshoot to resolve or remediate issues and risks related to the above, using a variety of techniques Motivate self and others to continually reflect, adapt to improve quality and delivery cadence A diligent and conscientious approach to completing work on time and to an agreed, acceptable level of quality Help others by undertaking tasks related to your discipline when required Support the Transition of this Scope of Services to the company and/or a Third Party Provider should this be required. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Extensive experience in data architecture across a range of platforms and business domains Experience of a wide range of data technologies and techniques, including relational and NoSQL databases, ETL tools such as Alteryx and Informatica, profiling, analysis and modelling tools Experience in integration techniques and technologies, including XML schemas, webservices and messaging platforms Good formal modelling skills, including UML and E-R modelling Actively engaged and aware of current developments in data architectures and related disciplines, tools and markets Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Experience of large IT, delivering Agile at Scale and Business Change programmes Experience in drafting and presenting design and decision papers Ability to provide oversight of data related tasks from across team members Very strong collaboration and communication skills Ability to prioritise and work on tight timescales If this could be of interest to you, click "apply" to hear more.
