Overview
Legal PA in Commercial Property My client is based in the city, looking for a Legal PA with 4 years Commercial property experience. This is a rare opportunity to work for a top London law firm, with outstanding benefits, paying up to £40,000. This is a 9 month fixed term contract, and they will consider full time or part time applicants (part time 3 days per week). A position in the commercial property team to be the sole organiser of SDLT and LR transactions. Able to work under pressure with a sound knowledge of commercial property transactions, to be able to advise on SDLT and Land Registry matters - confident to liaise with all members of staff and to put forward a case study to back up complex SDLT transactions and to communicate with clients to explain such if necessary. Duties include: Preparation of commercial SDLT calculations and returns Ability to submit SDLT returns via SDLT.co.uk / HMRC Good knowledge of commercial transactions Experience of dealing with and being able to identify complex SDLT matters, i.e. linked transactions, overlap relief and holding over of leases Identifying potential issues / complications and liasing with tax partner Working to deadlines, e.g. new 14 day deadline for SDLT, able to diarise work and work independently towards deadlines/LR requisitions Confident in liasing directly with HMRC and the Land Registry and chasing fee earners for further information when needed Experience in preparation and submission of Land Registry applications, including large applications for development sites Knowledge of Land Registry rules i.e. when a lease needs registering/noting/registering easements etc Experience in completion of all Land Registry forms and understanding their purpose
