Overview
MacKenzie King are delighted to be recruiting an Accountant for a progressive regional accountancy firm based on the outskirts of Colchester. This role is ideal for a qualified or part-qualified individual to manage a portfolio of clients made up of medical, general business and private clients. Main Responsibilities: Accounts and Tax Reviewing the draft accounts for companies, partnerships and sole traders. Reviewing corporation and partnership tax computations and returns. Reviewing individual tax returns. Managing workload and client expectations. Working within budgets set at the planning stage. Overseeing junior staff in the preparation of accounts and tax returns, providing training where required and assisting with their development. Ensuring the efficient use of appropriate software packages internally and supporting client's accounting systems. Clients Maintain up to date understanding of client’s business. Maintain good working relationships with client’s staff. Is aware of the wide range of services and spots opportunities to potentially sell those services to clients. Takes an active role in business development and promoting the firm in the local area. Qualifications and Experience: Qualified (ACA, ACCA) or close to qualification. Maths and English Language at GCSE or equivalent. Preparation of company accounts and corporation tax accounts. Experience of using Microsoft packages, internet, email and could accounting packages. Proven ability to adapt quickly to changing deadlines and priorities. Personal Attributes: Strong organisation skills. Ability to network and develop contacts. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Be proactive in identifying practical solutions to internal and client issues. Be able to operate at a high level of confidentiality.
