Tax & Compliance Accountant Colchester - UK Job Reference:CUX-FIN-06416 Location:Colchester - UK Closing Date:03/07/2019 Department:Finance Division:Global Support This role is responsible for providing accurate and timely statutory financial information to key business partners, external stakeholders and Group finance. You will be responsible for ensuring a high value service is provided to key business partners and group through effective collaboration with your team. You will be expected to support the annual statutory audit process and ensure all MDM/GPO processes are followed. You must ensure that all company policies are adhered to. You must also ensure that duties are carried out within set time limits whilst providing an excellent level of service to all Informa customers and colleagues. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Tax & Compliance Accountant is expected to assume a selection of the following key responsibilities plus any other reasonable duties as required:Statutory Accounts, Month end & Other Prepare draft statutory accounts with clear and concise working files. User of the Statutory accounts software package Assist with the tagging of Statutory accounts (EUSSC only) Assist with ad hoc queries where appropriate Prepare and review assigned Balance sheet reconciliations Assist with preparing information for Group Assist with relevant project work Posting, reporting & any other work associated with dormants & non-trading entities Assist with the provision of information for audit queries Preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual National Statistics returns Assist with cross training other team members where required Monitoring queries inboxes and responding in a timely fashion Indirect Tax Preparation and submission of VAT returns (SSC Specific) Preparation and submission of annual VAT returns Preparation and submission of monthly EC Sales list (EUSSC only) Preparation and submission of monthly Intrastat declaration (EUSSC only) Preparation of annual PSA return (EUSSC only) Assist with setting up new VAT registrations across the world Liaising with external Tax Advisers on VAT queries Assist with VAT due diligence and attend meetings on new acquisitions Assist with system testing for new VAT rule changes/projects Ensuring systems are up to date for VAT rate changes Maintain the VAT Intranet pages to keep VAT rates and rules up to date Maintaining a record of VAT rules by both country and type of supply Assistance with other Group and adhoc VAT projects where required Direct tax Prepare corporation tax returns for a portfolio of Companies Assist with the preparation of information for European corporation tax returns Provide support on the completion of year-end tax provisioning Assist in addressing Tax authority queries in a timely and efficient manner Assist with non-routine ad hoc tax matters as required Prepare & submit Tax returns, including balance sheet reconciliations and organising payments. Obtaining multiple residence Certificates from Tax authority to help reduce Withholding taxes suffered Assist with providing withholding tax advice and guidance, along with submitting required returns Treasury Preparation of posting of daily treasury transactions and investigating any unusual transactions Assist with preparation of Month end schedules and postings Assist with daily and month treasury requests from Group Treasury, including FX ALL and Misys Verifying monthly loans and interest Month end bank reconciliations Assist with the management of the HMRC "passport scheme" to ensure interest payable overseas is paid without deduction / or at a reduced rate of withholding tax Assist with relevant project work PEOPLE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES General duty of care to colleagues Work collaboratively across teams Act as a role model to others Provide help and a buddy system to other members of the team depending upon your level (SSC Specific) SKILLS & ABILITIES Good communication skills with the ability to build good relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, internal departments and key suppliers Proficient skills in Excel, Word and Outlook are essential Remain approachable under pressure Knowledge and ability to use relevant internal systems Act with integrity Work as part of a team Ability to complete a variety of related tasks Pro-actively solve problems Excellent Customer Service skills Good time management skills Ability to be flexible within role Good attention to detail Confident and highly motivated Excellent telephone manner KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS Good knowledge and understanding of Tax & Compliance processes within your area A good knowledge of SAP system Knowledge of best practice in a Tax & Compliance environment Recognised qualification/Accounting degree preferable (SSC Specific)
