Overview
An interesting and challenging role has become available to join a contract research organisation based in Newcastle. As an Organic Chemist your role will include route scouting of novel compounds, including the potential to work on clients sites for the company, and helping move the compound from the original bench scale, helping to improve efficiency and yield of the projects to a Kg scale. Main responsibilities will include: ·Developing and demonstrating new processes in the laboratory. ·Providing chemistry support and supervision for the start-up and ongoing performance of processes, to ensure quality and minimise lost time in manufacture. ·Monitoring, interpreting and reporting data. ·Working with the technical team and providing technical support to ensure product quality. ·Being compliant with health and safety procedures, performing HSE audits when appropriate. ·Working as directed by the Group Leader to ensure external customer requirements are met. The ideal candidate will hold: Essential ·Good honours degree in a relevant chemistry discipline. ·Strong IT skills using Microsoft office and databases. ·Effective communication skills both verbal and written, along with exceptional organisational skills. ·Confidence and drive for planning and coordinating projects, to be required when needed in a project management capacity. ·Preferably hold a PhD in organic/medicinal chemistry. ·Experience as a chemist in a fine R&D/chemical industry role is desirable.
