Job description/Person specification: Specific Responsibilities Our teams provide IT systems and support into the Royal Navy and across the wider QinetiQ estate, providing a great opportunity to get involved with a wide variety of technologies and environments. The purpose of the IT Technical Architect is to have a direct impact on QinetiQ's ability to support the Royal Navy's decision making ability in leading complex IT projects through: requirements definition; architecture; design; implementation; and delivery into service. Projects are typically 6 to 12 months in duration and often require travel between QinetiQ sites and to customer locations. Knowledge, skills and Personal Qualities Required We are looking for a proactive candidate with a proven track record of designing and delivering enterprise wide IT systems. The candidate must have demonstrable experience working at a technical architect level and is comfortable managing stakeholders and project staff. Challenges Designing effective solutions, including considerations for strategy, people, process and technology Ability to work effectively across matrix organisation structures. Ability to lead a technical team across multiple sites. Management of key stakeholders. Key Accountabilities Responsible for overall technical design and delivery of IT Projects. Responsible for managing the technical output of project team members. Working with Project Managers to ensure tasks are completed to time, cost and quality. Act as the technical focus point for the project, engaging with key stakeholders to ensure successful completion of projects. Proactive engagement with QinetiQ Technical Assurance. Behavioural Requirements Excellent communication, influencing and relationship building skills. Clear commercial understanding of the needs of the business and of our customer Track record for remaining unbiased toward any specific technology or vendor. Collaboration across QinetiQ and acting with integrity to delivery QinetiQ and Customer advantage.
