Our client is looking for highly experienced Team Leaders to come in and join their engineering team and hit the ground running as soon as possible. Primarily delivery of the shift results however also required to take active role in the longer term improvement activity and plans for the area. Safe working environment delivering good quality products to agreed production plans whilst ensuring labour and yield controls are in place and being adhered to. Leading the teams through regular performance reviews using lean principles of short interval control, the tier process and multi-disciplined teams. Generation of actions as an output of this process which will deliver improved performance before the next review point. Ensure the correct tools and principals are being used, Tier process, SOC, 5S, Gemba. Ensuring repeat or problems which cannot be resolved in a timely manner, are escalated to the appropriate levels and managed in an organised and systematic manner. Using appropriate problem solving tools in the event of reoccurring or significant issues which may arise. Ability to manage and direct shift engineering teams where appropriate to support this process Proactive approach to improving safety and GMP standards within the area of responsibility, communicating with external resources where required to ensure cleaning standards are improved where possible. Carrying out all necessary company communications to required standards and ensuring all sign off and compliance is taking place. Engagement of teams to actively seek out performance and costs improvement opportunities where ever possible. Be able to demonstrate personal involvement and contribution in these initiatives. Ensure focus on safety initiatives is evident with approach to deliver zero lost time or minor accidents evident. In the event of any issues taking place on the shift, demonstrating the ability to manage and contain these events so as to minimise the impact on the business. Ensure that all productions activities ( start-ups, shut downs, changeovers ) are planned out with potential risks identified and managed accordingly Maintaining of discipline standards and application of company procedures across the area of responsibility. Clear communication through other areas of the production team in order to coordinate activity appropriately. Review personal performance with line manager and have the ability to demonstrate with evidence your personal contribution to the areas results. Development of the team to ensure that succession planning is in place and also the ability to maintain a flexible trained team with little or no reliance on bought in key skills in order to operate the shift. Leading focused improvement projects or capital projects. Review and adjust the production plans as appropriate in order to meet all business demands as and when activity dictates. Coaching and mentor technicians in the ability to successfully deliver objectives via the PDR system and ensure attendance at the Tier 1 & 2 meetings. Coordinate and manage shift communications and review process such as Tier 1 & 2, DARMS ensuring that all areas are in control on plan and have sufficient focus for delivery of requirements for that shift. Ensure active management of contract services is in place through communications with their first line management and planned activity is undertaken correctly. Ensuring effective shop floor based handovers are taking place to aid continuity across shift changes Monthly monitoring of goals with gap analysis and identification of action plans in place where goals not being achieved Continually looks for opportunities to add value and learn from other functions Responsible for the authorization of all required permits for the shift teams. Review absence and carry out RTWs for their team, carry out the T & A, shift based rotas and skills matrix. Ensure all work is entered in SAP using the P1 process, PMs are signed off and all stores withdrawals are accounted for. The right Engineer: Min 3 years’ experience of operating in a fast-moving production environment Time served Electrical/Mechanical Engineer (NVQ3 and HNC or equivalent) Excellent engineering understanding. Experience of delivering sustainable improvement plans which have contributed to business success. Strong leadership competencies required with the ability to demonstrate a systematic approach to problem solving.
