JS240 – Technical Director (Aviation) Location: Farnborough Salary: £75,000 - £90,000 Exceptional Benefits First Military Executive Recruitment is working closely with an established business who are recruiting for a Technical Director. As Technical Director you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, overseeing and directing the maintenance activities. You will drive improvements in efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance planning and control, ensuring safety, operational, customer satisfaction and financial objectives are met or exceeded. The Technical Director is a senior position with the leadership team with line management responsibility and accountability for the Continuing Airworthiness department and the Maintenance Planning and Control department. This will include managing any outsource partners contracted to support these functions and dealing with third party maintenance providers. You will hold the position of Continuing Airworthiness Manager (CAM), the nominated post holder for continuing airworthiness. The CAM is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance of all maintenance activities and will determine what maintenance is required, when it must be performed (within a defined tolerance), to what standard, and what approvals are required. Duties & Responsibilities : Develop an annual business plan, to include specific, measureable objectives, targets and initiatives to support delivery of the business strategy in the light of your research and assessment of future maintenance needs. Propose associated resource requirements and budgets. Plan, coordinate, direct and oversee maintenance work performed by Engineering and by external contract maintenance providers, to ensure all customer contract requirements and regulatory requirements are met or exceeded. Provide positive leadership in customer relations and ensure customer satisfaction for maintenance-related issues. Ensure teams from different sites, divisions and companies work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service. Develop and monitor metrics to support the achievement of objectives, drive performance and to achieve consistency of service. Establish and execute initiatives to drive continuous improvement to enhance quality and efficiency within budget. Establish and modify maintenance policies, processes and procedures as required to optimise the delivery of service and drive continuous improvement across the department. Ensure adherence to and improvement of safety and compliance policies and procedures and protection of customer aircraft. Own relationships with third party organisations where they pertain to maintenance and airworthiness activities. Participate in business development activities to win new contracts. Skills and Experiences : Proven track record of airworthiness management roles in the aviation industry, demonstrating successful delivery and leadership capabilities. Strong team building and communications skills, fostering a positive organisational culture and delivering continuous improvement. Customer-focussed with proven ability to achieve outcomes that meet customer requirements within contracted performance and planned commercial parameters. Sound knowledge of the aviation industry and its safety and compliance requirements. Sound business and commercial acumen with astute decision making to optimise business outcomes while adhering to safety and compliance requirements. Good influencing skills and ability to build relationship with executive stakeholders and exercise company values. Confident, tenacious and assertive with effective negotiation skills. 10 years of aviation management experience in airworthiness or maintenance and a demonstrable knowledge thereof. Be qualified to hold the position as Nominated Postholder for Continued Airworthiness (NPHCA) in an organisation that operates business jet, turboprop and rotary aircraft.
