Position Title: Shift Tech Engineering Support Reports to: Location (inc. Country): GU14 Full time/Part time/ Contractor: FT Pay Band: Up to £25.0K per annum Including Shift allowance Job Purpose To provide a full on-site support service in the Data Centres : · Provide support to Engineers during installation/removal of hardware. · Complete Data Centre Asset Management · Manage access onto site working with ARK for all visitors to DR13 & 14. · Perform visual H & E checks of Servers and Network equipment / Server reboots and scripted events. · Perform trouble shooting of cabling in the DC. · Escorting all visitors to DR13 & 14 whilst on site. · Manage PSM were needed, HDD storage and disposal. · Manage Goods in process. Delivery will be to demanding Service Levels and will require focus on customer satisfaction. Main Accountabilities Complete tasks to specified standards Fully aware of sources for technical and procedural guidance Mount tapes within agreed Service Level Agreements and adhoc requests. Use of Lotus Notes for email and procedural work practise Maintain all relevant logs including to log calls and length of time taken to resolve Perform Hands and Eyes support after taking instruction from support groups including: Physical reboots of device Checking for hardware failure lights Checking for console error messages Assist in resolution of physical network faults and hardware problems Place tape or CD media into device to precede a recovery of a server Responds to problems quickly and efficiently using approved procedures Respond to any ad-hoc, low level skill, Hands and Eyes task which are scripted/documented/in writing, whilst on the telephone to the person in the team you are assisting Alerts the Manager to actual/potential Service problems. Assist with media changes as required Completes ad hoc activities at Manager’s request Host Customer Engineers/3 rd Party Visitors into the machine halls, assist with liaison with support teams as required Conforms to department and procedures and current SLAs/DOUs Refers to the Manager for procedural guidance Refers to the Manager for service/environmental standards Any other duties reasonably requested by the Company Main Working Relationships Internal Pomeroy London Region Service Delivery Manager Pomeroy Team Leader Pomeroy Technical Engineers External 3rd party Operations Teams 3 rd party Server Support Teams ITS (Hardware engineers) Customer site contacts Customer Site Security / reception staff Customers Despatch room staff Key Decisions Made by the Role Monitor customer environment and report discrepancies Escalate critical issues to Pomeroy Team Leader/Management Critical Experience, Know-How and Qualifications required to undertake the role Knowledge of DC installation processes. Asset Management within a DC. PC Literate.
