Telecoms Maintenance Engineer

Why does this role matter to us? Magdalene delivers Managed Services and Projects for both fixed and mobile infrastructure networks across the operator and utility markets. Our Service team are looking for a field based Telecoms Engineer to be part of our 24x7 Field Engineering team in the UK. What will you be doing? Your role will be to install, maintain, diagnose and restore telecommunications equipment, cabling and infrastructure on a 24x7 shift pattern to support our customers’ critical national infrastructure. This role has flexibility to allow you to have ownership of your day with support from our Service Management Centre (NOC) and your line. Occasionally you may be required to stay away from home as the work requires. This role fits within Magdalene’s Service Management team and will work collaboratively with the NOC, Customers and Network Management teams to ensure end to end ownership and SLA’s are met. What are your accountabilities and responsibilities? 1 st line installation, diagnostics and maintenance of fixed and mobile equipment and infrastructure. Receive, progress, report and close trouble tickets to customer SLA’s using correct processes and systems Revise and update technical documentation and asset registers Maintain cleanliness of all sites and report defects/problems Perform risk assessments on site and be able to follow method statements Produce reports for site visits as required Respond effectively to requests from the NOC Coaching and buddying of existing and new team members to ensure knowledge sharing Escalation with customers and suppliers as appropriate We need to see evidence of some of the below skills Previous experience with ticket/work management systems Transmission equipment Mobile networks and equipment Access Network and equipment Fibre and Copper cabling Power competence and awareness We also need to see these attributes on your CV Flexible worker who is able to work on the required shift pattern and carry out telecoms networks and equipment installations to an exceptional standard. You will boast a positive attitude to overcome any obstacles that come your way, in time allowing you to build lasting relationships with our customers and engineers. Helpful, an excellent communicator with outstanding customer service skills. You are someone that our customers can rely on to ensure work is completed to the highest standard.
