Senior Tableau Developer - Contract - Nottingham Senior Tableau Developer 6 Month Rolling Contract £Competitivepwd Reports to: Vice President - Digital Intelligence The Role: The Senior Tableau Developer will work within the Digital Intelligence team, playing a leading role in all matters relating to the technical delivery of reporting solutions implemented by the team. This role will focus on matters related to the global deployment of our new corporate Tableau instance in conjunction with our corporate data lake. A critical deliverable, will be provision of technical assistance, advice and execution of processes required to shape our internal financial data. Complex data translation via Tableau Prep is required, and processes need to be robust, and quick to execute in order to deliver near-real time financial reporting data sources for consumption in Tableau. The Senior Tableau Developer will also be involved in report design and build workstreams, often shadowing and supporting the Business Analysts with end-user requirement discussions and follow-ups. Key Responsibilities: Report design Providing best practice report design advice and options to Digital Intelligence Analytics Consultants and the other leaders within the DI team Reviewing that have been developed to ensure adherence to standards before passing to the support team for testing Working with functional experts and Business Analysts to understand and advise on report requirements Report design for implementation in Tableau to meet requirements Report development Developing reports (or co-ordinating with GCSS development teams) in line with internal report standards Provision of clear status updates in relation to expected deadlines Full focus on quality of output and accuracy of reporting Documenting report build specifications and sharing with support management team Technical advice Partner with Vice President Digital Intelligence on the long-term design strategy for shaping our financial data for Tableau purposes and then executing on that plan Cross-training more junior developers on the Digital Intelligence team on Tableau functionalities and best practices Essential Skills and Experience: Experience and education Business or Technical IT degree preferred or other relevant qualification Minimum of 3 years experience in Tableau Desktop & Server with advanced knowledge of key functionalities (e.g. Tableau workbooks, calculated fields, parameter controls, hierarchy, groups, sets, dashboard actions, filters, annotations, publishing/scheduling/refreshing reports to Tableau Server, etc.) Proven track record in working with data preparation tools such as Tableau Prep or Alteryx, displaying first class understanding of best practise approaches to data management and manipulation Minimum of 5 years' experience with data visualization or dashboard development tools Experience with SQL, solid understanding of databases, and experience working with data lake technology Experience in evolving financial reporting to a data visualization mindset Knowledge based skills First class knowledge and subject matter expert on relevant reporting tools Knowledge of trends and emerging possibilities in MI/BI, data and automation Exceptional knowledge of data visualization best practice and trends Excellent understanding of data flows, hierarchies and data aggregation Significant experience in coding in languages such as SQL and MDX Strong all-round MS Office knowledge
