Overview

Head of Trusts & Foundations Orchestra, London Competitive Salary Founded in 1945, our client is a world-class symphony orchestra for the 21st century. Based in London at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, and with a thriving national and international touring schedule, the Orchestra creates thrilling performances for a global audience. The Orchestra is led by Finnish conductor and composer Esa-Pekka Salonen, its Principal Conductor & Artistic Advisor since 2008. Fellow Finn Santtu- Matias Rouvali takes over from Salonen as Principal Conductor in the 2021/22 season. The Orchestra performs around 50 concerts a year at its Southbank Centre home and is also orchestra-in-residence at venues and festivals across England: Bedford Corn Exchange, De Montfort Hall in Leicester, The Marlowe in Canterbury, Anvil Arts in Basingstoke, the Three Choirs Festival in the West of England, and Garsington Opera. At the heart of the Orchestra’s residencies is an outreach and engagement programme that empowers people in every community to engage with, and participate in, orchestral music. The Orchestra is now seeking to appoint a Head of Trusts & Foundations to develop and grow sustainable partnerships that will support the breadth of the Orchestra’s artistic programmes, education and outreach work. The post-holder will be responsible for creating a new trusts and foundations strategy and will manage all applications and approaches. They will nurture and steward relationships with existing funders, meet reporting and budget deadlines as required, and work with the Director of Development, the Development Board and other Development team members as appropriate. The successful candidate will be an experienced trusts and foundations fundraiser who can bring demonstrable success in securing, managing and effectively stewarding significant grants, together with a clear strategic understanding of the current grant-making climate across the UK. Ideally bringing their own knowledge of key contacts and networks to the role, they will be as confident in meeting and developing relationships with vital contacts in the sector as they are when writing a funding proposal. They will also be a strong team player who can work closely with colleagues to identify opportunities as they arise. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and passionate trust fundraiser to play a vital strategic role in developing and expanding trust and foundation support for a world-class orchestra. Flexible working (including later/earlier start/finish times, compressed hours and home working) may be considered.
