Overview

REED Social Care are recruiting for Children and Family Support Workers in Sheffield. Working alongside Social Workers, you will be assessing the levels of need of children and young people, their families and carers and identifying appropriate plans and services to support them. This is an ideal role for a Newly Qualified Social Worker awaiting their HCPC or for current Social Work students. Part of the Fieldwork Services team, your main responsibilities will include:  Work alongside Social Workers to provide advice and practical support to children and young people who are deemed “in need” under the Children Act 1989.  To provide support and advice to families and carers on how best to meet the needs of their children or young people.  Assist with and co-work assessments with social workers and other agencies workers as appropriate.  Assist young people in the development of a range of self care and independent living skills.  Promote the health of children and young people and enable access to the appropriate health care professionals.  Maintaining up to date records of cases using management information systems.  In agreement with Team Manager, maintain an appropriate caseload of work following assessment in partnership with social workers and colleagues from other agencies. Recognise when it is appropriate to escalate the management of the case to a Social Worker if required. You will have had experience of working in a health, educational, social care setting or voluntary work with children and young people, be able to understand developmental needs of children, young people, their families and carers. You also need a basic working knowledge of the law relating to children, child development and problem behaviour and the roles and responsibilities of Children’s Services. This is a temporary role for until the end of May 2020 and is a 37 hour per week role - primarily Mon - Fri 9am -5pm. You must ideally be a driver with access to a car. Pay rate for this role is £10.92 per hour. However, there is a degree of flexibility if you aren't a car driver, and if you can't commit to full time 9am -5pm Mon to Fri.
