Overview

As a Senior Network Engineer you will be passionate about the field and take a lead role in the strategic network and project based work packages, aligned to the overall business strategy. As part of our project and third line support team within network engineering, this is an excellent opportunity for someone who has proven technical ability and a track record of technical excellence with a project delivery focused mindset. You will be capable of leading and delivering project related work with minimal input from the team, technical leads and managers. You will be driven to continually identify opportunities to optimise and improve the performance availability and security of the network. As a Senior Network Engineer you may be required to take part in the on call rota which provides the business with 24/7 support. You will have the support of other staff who work within the network engineering area across our network security, BAU and compliance functions. You will have the interpersonal skills and attitude which will allow you to be helpful as you interact with many different areas of the business. Main Responsibilities: Working in a project lead capacity for business led or infrastructure led projects. Supporting the team in a 3 rd line capacity including incident and major incident management. Looking to continually improve the service in relation to your technical domain. Raising awareness via the change management processes relating to touch points where changes to the network may have an impact on other dependent services. Having a detailed understanding of the architecture of your technical domain and how this is configured to produce the current operational posture. Actively leading investigations into the root cause of service impacting issues working directly with our incident and problem management teams. Carrying out mentoring tasks to other team members in order to assist with their technical development. Liaising and facilitating successful relationships with other teams across the business. Representing the Network Engineering Team in technical capacity in forums for work being coordinated across teams within the business. Preferred Skills and Responsibilities: Commercial experience in an equivalent network engineering related role. CCNA/CCNP/CCIE. Experience with software defined networking and affiliated technologies to support modern platform stacks such as OpenStack, VMware & Kubernetes. Experience automating networking infrastructure and solutions at scale using tools such as Python, Ansible and Jenkins. Strong automation experience. Project delivery experience.
