Project Engineer About the Role This is an exciting opportunity to join Delivery Strategy enabling you to get a unique view point by working with Electricity Construction delivery regions, equipment suppliers and both internal and external stakeholders. The role will require travel within the delivery regions combined with presence in our main office in Warwick. As a Project Engineer you will be a part of Delivery Strategy where you will be leading Network Output Measures (NOMs) part of the team. You will be experienced in all aspects of project delivery, construction, construction procurement and portfolio management. You will work towards maximising strategic efficiencies at all stages of the project life cycle while managing Electricity Construction NOMs portfolio changes. You will agree changes with internal stakeholders and support regional delivery teams in delivery of NOMs projects. To meet customer and stakeholder expectations, proactive work with stakeholders both internal and external along with managing suppliers will be essential. Part of your role will be to carry out procurement activities for sourcing equipment where management of suppliers is in line with Project Management principles ensuring contractual requirements are met with focus on time, cost, quality while ensuring health, safety and environmental considerations are managed throughout the process. You will also own the equipment supply programme and provide regular project monthly status reports which will include: health, safety and environment performance, milestone progress, risk management and current and forecast financial performance. As a part of stakeholder management, you will provide regular updates on NOMs performance to senior management. Aside from NOMs, you will be technical lead supporting the wider Delivery Strategy team. This will be through representing Capital Delivery in cross functional meetings and consulting on technical queries associated with electricity construction project delivery raised by fellow team members. An important part of your activities will be coaching and mentoring junior members of the team by showing them best practice and encouraging their development and learning enabling their capability building. There is a lot of activity within National Grid to prepare not only for the new regulatory period (RIIO-T2) but also for the massive transformation that energy sector is going to experience in the future. Part of your role will be to support wider business activities - be it new frameworks, technologies or development of new ways of working meaning that answer is not there yet. So open mind, passion for change, collaborative approach, ability to analyse and structured approach are crucial. About You Degree (or equivalent) or relevant experience In depth Project Management experience with construction project delivery experience Experience in construction procurement Display leadership qualities and desire to develop people Strong stakeholder skills and show that primary and end focus is with the customer in mind A proven ability to build and maintain diverse stakeholder relationships at all levels, managing requirements and expectations Strong commercial acumen and an ability to coach and challenge An ability to delivery excellent performance and demonstrate that they will lead through ambiguity and change Previous experience within the gas or electricity construction industry would be a great bonus but is not essential - we welcome experience from similar industries Proficient understanding and experience of Safety and Environmental legislation and practices and policies Working knowledge of CDM Regulations Travel within regions is expected, so full UK driving license is essential What You'll Get A competitive salary between £47,000 - £59,000 dependent on capability.
