Overview

Our client, a local authority based in East London is seeking a Prosecutions Lawyer for three months initially. The role is to start asap and is to cover a period of permanent recruitment. The successful candidate must have experience of the full range of enforcement matters and non- routine criminal proceedings that arise within the public sector such as benefit fraud, health & safety and food safety. Our client will be expecting the successful candidate to take over an existing caseload. The Prosecutions Lawyer will be required to: • have conduct of magistrate’s court cases including advocacy. • Provide telephone and written advice to clients on general enforcement issues. • Support casework in Legal Services where there is multi-disciplinary working. • Demonstrate Advocacy experience in order to undertake prosecutions and deal with other appropriate applications. The successful candidate must have experience in licensing matters and will act as legal advisor at evening Licensing Sub-committee meetings. In order to be considered for the role, you will need current experience of work in the areas mentioned above. You must be a Solicitor or Barrister with relevant PQE and hold a current Practising Certificate. Please note our advertisements use PQE/salary levels purely as a guide.
