Overview

A reputable Government body in London is looking for a Legal Counsel to join its in-house team for a full-time, permanent role focusing on commercial and construction matters. Your new company The In-House Counsel will be joining the government body responsible for the transport system across Greater London. Alongside its 90-strong in-house legal department, you will support their public transport investment programme on a number of maintenance and regeneration programmes. Your new role Key duties of the Legal Counsel will include: Responsibility for a wide range of matters related to the transport investment programme Providing legal advice on commercial and construction matters Drafting and negotiating high-value commercial contracts Working both independently and as part of a team to help the delivery of large scale projects Delivering commercial and practical solutions to emerging problems and managing risks What you'll need to succeed The successful Legal Counsel will be a Solicitor or Barrister who demonstrates: At least 6 years' PQE in non-contentious construction or commercial law, whether in UK or a transferable jurisdiction. Prior experience of drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide range of contracts. Exposure to public procurement law, or the engineering or transport sectors will be highly desirable. Experience dealing with complex high-value investment programmes.
