Overview

Your new company Opportunity for an experienced Litigation Lawyer to join a non-ministerial department, who are instrumental in inspecting and regulating a range of educational institutions and schools across the UK. They are dedicated to building trust and protecting the interests of students at state and independent schools. Your new role As the Litigation Lawyer, you will provide timely and high quality legal advice and support on litigation matters affecting the organisation. You will additionally provide advice on generic public law matters as well acting as the principle litigation adviser. You will instruct legal Counsel as required, and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. You will provide strategic and high level advice and support to senior management on how best to manage legal challenges, raising awareness of the risks of litigation within the organisation, ensuring the appropriate actions are taken to mitigate any risks. Finally you will manage and support the work of the Paralegals within the team. What you'll need to succeed To be considered for the role, you should be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a minimum of three years PQE, with significant experience and knowledge of judicial reviews including advocacy before courts and tribunals. You should have experience of providing high calibre legal advice and guidance to senior management, junior colleagues and key stakeholders as well as the ability to identify litigation risks and underlying causes, identifying solutions and ensure effective use of time and resource. Finally, you will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey the legal issue in a clear and simple method. Experience of other legal work within the remit of commercial and employment law is also desirable.
