Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Permanent - Altrincham Essential:- Experience of working & managing a small team of 3. Assist in the design & then delivery of the Infrastructure roadmap. Either a good solid AWS - EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, IAM, CloudFormation background or alternatively a strong background in Virtualisation. Experience running an IT networking & infrastructure department. Network/Security. VPN, subnetting, routing, VLAN, Cisco, HP. MessageLabs, vulnerability scanning, patching systems, Firewalls, Web protection. Desktop & The candidate will be working with an IT team of 3 engineers. The candidate must demonstrate strong & broad technical capabilities to lead the team & maintain the company infrastructure working to industry standard best practices. The candidate will be expected to be able to work with autonomy & demonstrate strong management capabilities as well as be technically hands, producing regular feedback of the assigned projects & department performance. Senior Infrastructure Engineer Duties & Responsibilities Management of Infrastructure team Reporting directly to the Head of Technology Assist in the design & then delivery of the Infrastructure roadmap Project Management of Infrastructure initiatives Management, security & ongoing performance of the company network Meeting industry compliance levels & accreditation (PCI, GDPR) R&D of new technologies Improve the reliability & durability of existing systems Develop & implement performance management strategies & toolsets Document deployment, support & DR procedures Manage 3rd party relationships with suppliers Monitor key suppliers service levels & highlight where Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are not being met Mentoring the infrastructure team, establishing annual objectives & personal development plans Management of the company’s hosting environments Senior Infrastructure Engineer Essential Technical Skills AWS - EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, IAM, Cloud Formation Experience running an IT networking & infrastructure department Network/Security VPN, subnetting, routing, VLAN, Cisco, HP MessageLabs, vulnerability scanning, patching systems, Firewalls, Web protection Desktop & Server Virtualisation – VMWare preferable Back up technologies – Veeam etc Linux & Windows server administration Senior Infrastructure Engineer Desired Technical Skills Configuration Management – Puppet Change Control - GitHub Experience of Office 365 & enterprise level architectures Experience of administration & configuration of Telephony systems, particularly VOIP & unified comms Scripting – PowerShell, Python, Bash Senior Infrastructure Engineer Personal Skills / Attributes Required • Graduate calibre with MCSE, VCP & CCNA certification highly desirable • Proven experience of working in a dynamic IT environment • Able to prioritise tasks effectively & adapt to changing priorities • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate at both a technical & a non-technical level • MUST be willing to work out of hours if required Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK Established in 1978, NES Global Talent provides a complete range of contract and permanent talent solutions to the Oil and Gas, Power, Construction and Infrastructure, Life Sciences, Manufacturing and IT sectors worldwide.
