Overview

Axon Moore is representing the Finance Director of an entrepreneurial professional services business based in Central Manchester as it looks to appoint a Group Finance Manager in what will quickly become a broad Group Financial Controller (No.2) role. Growing year on year and already turning over more than £50m there is a clear target from the owners to work towards raising private equity investment within 2 years. With this and succession planning in mind, the Finance Director (a former Big 4 Manager) is looking to appoint a former auditor, trained in Top 10 practice, with financial reporting experience, who will join initially as Group Finance Manager with a plan to progress to Group Financial Controller. Reporting directly to the Finance Director in a centralised Group finance function, the focus of the role will be at group level, supporting regional finance were required. Key areas of the role will be providing financial & commercial performance analysis to senior stakeholders, maintaining a robust financial control environment as well as the coordination and delivery of timely reporting in line with applicable accounting standards. This high-profile role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to work alongside group and regional directors in addition to department heads throughout the operations and support functions. Principal Responsibilities: Contribute to the achievement of the Group's business objectives by monitoring and reporting variances to budget Preparation of the Group consolidated management accounts and Board reporting pack to ensure that these are presented accurately and on time Develop and maintain financial systems and processes to implement best practice and efficiencies Manage external relationships with international professional service suppliers to ensure that these are operating effectively and provide the best value to the Group Manage the Group audit process and preparation of financial statements and corporate tax returns in conjunction with professional service advisors Management of the Group transfer pricing and other tax policies and implementation strategy Support the Director of Finance with the raising of working capital and maintaining covenant reporting with partner banks both locally and internationally Support the Director of Finance with projects relating to the incorporation of new international companies and management of the Group corporate structure Support the Director of Finance with the set-up and maintenance of share incentive schemes Support the Commercial Finance team with the preparation of quarterly & annual forecasts Support the Treasury team with cash requirement forecasts to meet payment obligations Experience: Great role for a technically astute qualified accountant (Up to 5 yrs PQE) with necessary industry experience In-depth technical accounting knowledge gained in a global environment Work in an autonomous role where you can manage your own working day with a high degree of responsibility Strong organisation, communication and presentational skills There is a clear progression plan in place that will allow the successful candidate to take on more and more responsibility over time, progressing in line with the businesses and shareholder strategy to become Group Financial Controller, and a true deputy to the Finance Director, within the two years leading up to a transaction, increasing their remuneration package alongside the increased responsibility.
