This leadership position has global responsibility for the development and leadership of Quality and Environmental, Health and Safety improvement strategies for the business. The successful candidate is an essential member of the leadership team and responsible for positively impacting enterprise results and the overall success of the business. It holds specific responsibility for improvements of Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) risk and liability, personally and through business units, regional, site and functional Quality and EHS leaders and serves as a role model in the areas of Quality, Safety, Leadership, Teamwork, Customer Focus and Environmental stewardship, ensuring alignment with the company's vision and goals. Influencing and partnering are key to driving engagement of leaders and employees to proactively focus on results oriented actions aimed at integrating Quality and EHS into the Business Operating System. The successful candidate will build and execute sustainable processes that maximize the value of assets, eliminate waste, and drive a culture of continuous improvement. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) Develops global Quality and EHS improvement strategy which aligns to the enterprise strategy, end market operating plans and global operational strategy while taking into account present operational realities. Provides strategic vision and leadership for the global EHS and Quality Team supporting effective implementation of Quality and EHS processes, initiatives, and standards. Develops global methodology for assessing current level of Customer Quality, Internal Quality and EHS excellence, while identifying opportunities for improvement Develops and implements robust metric system that includes Quality and Safety performance metrics that can be used in plant driven initiatives as well as a tool for management decision making. Identifies, prioritizes and executes continuous improvement Quality and EHS initiatives that provide the highest impact on customer perception and operational excellence. Sets realistic, challenging and clear goals for self and team. Leverages partnerships and builds a network of effective relationships both internally and externally with business leaders and key customers. Attracts, develops, retains and rewards talent across the organization to ensure bench strength and succession and hold leaders accountable for doing the same throughout the organization. Optimizes competence to match present and future needs for the organization Provides education and mentoring to global leaders to identify, drive and sustain effective leadership skills that inspire a culture of continuous Quality and EHS improvement. Develops, gains alignment, measures and communicates results of Quality and EHS continuous improvement metrics effectively to senior leadership Implements a methodology that embeds Quality and EHS into the Business Operating System at all levels of the organization. Plans and implements Quality and EHS policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, national rules, regulations, and customer requirements. Oversees and directs the work of regional and functional Quality and EHS Leaders, supporting global business requirements. Consolidates metrics, evaluations, for Business and Functional level reporting, organization engagement, and improvement. Facilitates a process to ensure business unit self-audits, third party audits, management system evaluations and provide support for the businesses in completing actions and driving continuous improvement in Quality, EHS. Plans and implements programs to identify and provide competency training for managers and employees in Quality and EHS practices, policies and procedures. Develops and implements processes for tracking environmental permit requirements. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification 10 years of engineering, manufacturing operations, EHS or Quality experience, including 5 years managing global Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety or manufacturing operations teams Working knowledge of Federal EPA and OSHA regulations, as well as access to and knowledge of European and Asian regulations for environmental, health, and safety issues. Understanding of Global Quality, EHS ISO standards and management systems. Effective interpersonal skills in following up and completing projects with diversified personalities of employees.
