Hutchison Ports (UK) - Port of Felixstowe is the largest deep-water Port in the UK and to support our continued growth and development we are looking to recruit Six (6) Engineering Technicians to join our Equipment Technology department within the Engineering Division. Reporting to the Equipment Technology Manager - Equipment Technology, the purpose of the role is to diagnose, rectify and repair faults on Electrical and Electronic controls & systems including all ancillary systems on the Port’s container handling equipment. The successful applicants will work within a team to undertake both Maintenance, Project and Commissioning work to upgrade, maintain and commission container handling equipment. Key Requirements On completion of structured training, supported by a detailed skills matrix or knowledge and experience, the Equipment Technology Technicians shall fulfil the following main duties: Ensure that Engineering control systems including programmable logic controllers (PLC’s), drives and Automation systems are cost effectively maintained and repaired in a safe manner. Minimising equipment downtime to improve equipment reliability and availability to meet both internal and external customer requirements. Be aware of Asset management strategies within the business and adhere to their requirements. Effectively manage and support both maintenance and project work, efficiently and safely with minimal disruption to operations working with all internal Engineering teams & Contractors Maintaining knowledge of technology utilised in crane systems. Be responsible for ensuring works are completed within budget and to the technical specification and performance requirements. Ensure compliance to all policies, procedures, standard operating procedures and safe working practices with recommendations for action and continuous improvement. Suitable applicants should meet the following criteria: Qualified or working towards (HNC) Higher national certificate in Electrical or Control Engineering. Knowledge and experience of Programmable Logic Control (PLC), control logic data communications, positioning systems and interface systems including ancillary control equipment to include the terminal operating system. Knowledge of variable speed drive systems & their required control systems Flexible in their approach to work and willing to take on change and support others. Preferred experience and knowledge of container handling equipment, instrument and control systems. Health & Safety qualification accredited (IOSH) or equivalent or a commitment to achieve with internal training within 12 months. Full UK Driving licence. A Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) will be an advantage. In addition, experience with Container handling equipment is desirable but not essential (training will be provided).
