Overview

Main Purpose of The Role The HR Business Partner is responsible for their health and safety and minimisation of impact to the environment whilst working within a site. The main purpose and scope of the role is to support the Head of HR and Senior HR Business Partners in all aspects of the Company’s HR and provide an operational people service to the business. Areas the HRBP will support are : Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands, Leicestershire Nottinghamshire and Cambridgeshire Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for his or her personal safety and that of all personnel under his or her authority, including others who may be affected by the company’s activities. In particular: Carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions, and to comply with safety rules/procedures, regulations and codes of practice. If aware of any unsafe practice or condition, or if in any doubt about the safety of any situation, consult their Manager. Ensure that all safety equipment and personal protective clothing/equipment provided are used. Not to operate any plant or equipment unless authorised. To report any accident, near-miss, dangerous occurrence or dangerous condition to their line management. To switch off and secure unattended plant or equipment. To avoid improvised arrangements and suggest safe ways of eliminating hazards. Not to participate in horseplay or place fellow employees in danger by their actions. Adopt a proactive manner to energy usage and suggest ways of improving energy performance. To support the Head of HR and Senior HR Business Partner’s (SHRBPs) in ensuring that the Company operates best practice in accordance with current legislation and its own policies and procedures. To work in partnership with SHRBPs and operational managers in regard to all employee related matters, providing advice and guidance as required. To assist operational and other business managers with regard to activities such as organisational change including restructuring and redundancies. To keep a weekly work log in relation to all activities undertaken and to discuss any major/unusual issues, prior to taking action. Attend, advise and assist at disciplinary, grievance, appeal and/or other meetings where there is potential for risk to the business e.g. in the event of dismissal, appeal against dismissal and/or where there is potential for claims of constructive or unfair dismissal. Take detailed notes of these meetings. To support the operational managers with redundancy procedures, documentation and if necessary, attendance at redundancy consultation meetings. Maintain up to date knowledge of all aspects of employment law. Work closely with other the SHRBPs to ensure consistency in our approach to dealing with arising issues. Any other duties that the company deem to be within the remit/capability of the post-holder. Experience CIPD qualification. Demonstrable skills in achieving demanding work requirements and ensuring customer needs are met. Hands-on experience in assisting operational teams manage both unionised and non-unionised workforces. Demonstrable experience of handling all stages of redundancy processes. Hands-on experience of attending and partaking in disciplinary and grievance hearings. Hands-on experience of TUPE (both incoming and outgoing) transfers. Essential Up to date knowledge of employment law (all areas) Personal attributes Highly credible with strong people skills, capable of developing and motivating others Ability to re-evaluate priorities, responding quickly and positively to change Performance driven with the ability to deliver added value and assist in the improvement of operational performance. Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and develop successful employee and industrial relations. Good IT skills Nationwide travel (overnight stays may be required). Full clean driving licence.
