Flight Mechanics Engineer
Overview
As Flight Mechanics specialist, perform flight mechanics modelling and analysis activities for conventional and new project and/or supporting other Company products. Key Responsibility Areas Study and understand the flight mechanics of standard and new rotorcraft configurations, develop performance and flight dynamics models. Analyse and document experimental and/or analytical data. Write and test algorithms for implementation in the simulation codes. Test and validate the implemented models/algorithms. Perform performance / flight dynamics simulations, compare with existing experimental data and produce related documentation. Coordinate with the Chief Project to ensure inputs, outputs, priorities and deliverables are coherent with project plans, assumptions and objectives. Coordinate with Head of Discipline and Technical Leaders to ensure the methods used are appropriate and the quality of the results is in line with the Flight Mechanics standards and procedures. Coordinate with the Colleagues in order to ensure the exchange of knowledge and best practices. Analyse and document handling qualities of LH products. Perform flight mechanics tasks or support other Disciplines, as requested by the Discipline Manager and/or by the Technical Leaders. Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required BS Degree (or equivalent) in aerospace engineering or related discipline. MS Degree preferred. Strong understanding of basic flight mechanics, aerodynamics, aircraft performance and design; rotorcraft background is preferred. Strong analytical skills. Ability to understand complex systems and aircraft flight characteristics. Basic knowledge in modelling and analysis. Experience with CAMRAD, BADA, ADAMS, FlightLab is preferred. Basic knowledge or experience in data analysis. Experience with programming languages or engineering environments such as Fortran, C, Delphi/Pascal, Visual Basic, Matlab/Simulink. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization, identify solutions in the presence of conflict and ambiguity.
