Overview

St Joseph's Specialist Trust is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to take overall responsibility for the effective delivery of payroll and pensions for our 300 staff. You will need excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, the ability to lead and problem solve, be full of initiative and have solid experience of payroll within an HR and/or finance team. Ideally you will have a payroll qualification and/or CIPP certification. You will manage, review and work alongside our external payroll provider. You need to be prepared to manage the payroll process in its entirety should ongoing review of the provider result in bringing this back in-house. You will have an assistant to support the processing of some payroll data so experience of managing others within a small team is desirable. As well as processing payroll and pension data, you will develop and manage effective reporting, monitoring and checking systems to ensure any payroll issues are identified and resolved quickly. You will work to a tight deadline to review the monthly output of data from the outsourced provider. You will need to confidently and proactively communicate to staff at all levels on payroll matters and the seeking of information from staff. This includes advising on salary changes, sickness pay, tax, pensions, national insurance, overtime and holiday pay. For more detail of the responsibilities please view the job profile. We are a special school, college and children's home for students age 5-19 with severe and complex social communication and learning disabilities. We also run two adult supported living houses. Compassion, empathy and patience for the needs of our students is an important part of joining the team at St Joseph's. This role spans HR and finance and you will work within a small team of HR professionals to ensure the team continues to deliver an effective service to staff. Hours each week are Monday to Thursday 8.30am - 4.30pm, Fridays 8.30am - 4pm.
