Overview

Subcontract Buyer Leicester – Le4 Salary subject to experience £30K p.a quarterly bonus paid on performance at discretion of MD up to £2k p.a Our client undertakes commercial glazing work (aluminium curtain walling, windows doors and roof lights) for many of the large Main Contractors in the UK. Our works are designed and manufactured at our facilities in Leicester. The subcontract buyer negotiates and places orders for goods that are delivered directly to site or with works taken out solely on site such as the installation subcontract or the hiring or buying of Plant to enable the works to be installed. Working in their Contracts Office their line manager will be our Contracts Office Manager. All information will be provided by architectural drawings/XL spreadsheets and email/phone requests from our contracts managers. Order values could be anything from £50 to £350,000 with bonus paid on savings against estimate with the necessary quality of purchased goods and achievement of delivery date. The site goods /materials purchased include glass, louvres, panels, smoke vents etc. Subcontract installation purchased includes site installation of our products, Fire screens including installation, Brise Soleil etc. Hiring of plant includes hiring Containers/ MEWP/ tower scaffolds etc. The Subcontract Buyer will be - Expected to arrange and undertake pre order meetings (including requesting colleague’s attendance for technical back up as required) for large value orders circa £50,000 and above. - Required to issue all information to suppliers and subcontractors to enable prices and delivery dates to be obtained. - Required to undertake a hire or buy cost analysis for on-site Plant and advise accordingly. - Required to raise and issue orders and log invoices against those orders electronically. - Required to raise Payless notices prior to invoice due dates where the invoice value doesn’t match the order value or value of work undertaken. - Required to attend handover meetings from other departments to understand purchasing constraints and requirements. - Required to produce reports showing savings and overspends against estimates. The successful candidate should be able to work well under pressure and be able to prioritise their workload to ensure orders are placed early enough to achieve our expected delivery dates. Candidates must have good negotiating skills, work to deadlines, prioritise work effectively, be able to multi-task and maintain good working relationships with both employees and suppliers.
