MacIntyre ,
Leicester, Leicestershire

Overview

Job Description

Would you like to go home after work knowing the impact of what you've done will last long after the end of your shift? The feeling of supporting people with learning disabilities and autism to live a life that makes sense to them is amazing! We have various part time shifts available, and it would be helpful if you note the sort of hours you're looking for when you apply: e.g. part time days and evenings/nights. Please note these vacancies are open only to female applicants.* You will be supporting adults from 18 years of age with a range of activities. These will include everyday living needs, such as assisting with medications, supporting with health and medical appointments, through to the lighter side of life: bowling, swimming, going out for walks, listening to music, going into town, shopping or out for meals. (Of course at the moment people are focusing more on activities at home, but we all hope it won't be long before we can get out and about again as normal.) On occasion, we do need to provide emotional reassurance and support to help people manage their behaviour, but we'll give you full training so you are aware of how to approach these situations should they arise. There is also some personal care involved with these roles, and one person is a wheelchair user. About Us We are an award-winning charity with the core belief that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community. We use person-centered approaches to keep the people we support safe, happy and healthy. Using a Positive Behaviour Support strategy ensures we see the person first, not their disability. What we need from you You don't need experience to become a Support Worker but it's not easy. The work can be demanding and challenging at times but no two days are the same and the reward of seeing YOUR personal impact is incredibly inspiring and it's something you'll never forget. If you are patient, kind and creative, we'll teach you the rest so that together we can deliver the best possible support. Please note that you must be a driver with your own transport insured for business use.
