Employer description: Nexus 365 Solutions are IT outsourcing experts. We specialise in IT Consultancy, IT Support and Outsourced IT Management. We can look after your laptops, desktops, servers and networks (it doesn't matter if you're using PCs or Macs). With over 20 years of expertise in support we'll give honest, to the point advice without the flannel and technobabble associated with some IT professionals. Overview: As part of this apprenticeship opportunity you will be working 3 days at Derby Grammar School and 2 days at Nexus 365 offices, so you will gain lots of on the job exposure to all aspects of IT. You will responsible for providing excellent first line support and acting as the initial point of contact for all IT incidents and service requests. Duties and responsibilities: First line support (logging calls, troubleshooting / diagnosis, and resolution or escalation) PC assembly and imaging PC maintenance (adding/removing apps, correcting faults, updating drivers/firmware, etc.) PC Hardware & Software installation, setup and maintenance PC Hardware & Software troubleshooting and Helpdesk responsibilities Data backup, archiving and restoring Network Security both LAN and WAN plus Antivirus and firewalls T Infrastructure Microsoft Windows Server set up Some of the things you can expect to learn and engage with: Build Windows, desktops & servers, physical and virtual, as requested by customers Customer site visits, ensuring company security policy is followed Practical networking, including installation, cabling, patching and equipment configuration Proactively respond to incidents across the entire portfolio of services Learn new software and technologies quickly Passion to learn new software Install and troubleshoot servers and networking services Work with Active Directory services – G suits, office 365 Working knowledge of Windows 7/10 Desired skills: Working knowledge of Windows 7 (both using and troubleshooting) Ability to perform basic practical tasks (e.g. use of basic tools such as screwdrivers to de-assemble a PC) Understanding of basic LAN/WAN technologies (e.g. Ethernet, IP, ISO 7 layer model, etc.) Personal qualities: Ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation A strong passion for IT Strong communications skills Keen to progress and further their knowledge Other requirements: Job is subject to a full DBS check Desired qualifications: Minimum 5 GCSE’s or equivalent at grade C/4 (including Maths) A-Levels or equivalent Computing related college qualification (if appropriate) Important Information: QA’s apprenticeships are funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), an executive agency of the Department for Education. To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
