Vacancy: Assistant Solicitor (3PQE), Family Law and Civil Litigation Full time; April 2020 start; competitive salary Excellent opportunity for an experienced family and litigation solicitor in a busy boutique ranked by both the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners in Farringdon, London. The successful applicant will work closely with a partner in a new department doing a split of family/civil litigation work. They will have the assistance of a paralegal. Applicants must have experience of family and civil litigation and an excellent knowledge of the Family Procedure Rules and Civil Procedure Rules. They should be adept at running their own caseload and progressing matters with minimal supervision. The role would be ideal for an applicant who has predominantly practised family law work, but also has practical civil litigation experience. However, any applicant with substantive experience of both areas will be considered. Applicants should be natural communicators and comfortable with advising people from a wide range of professional backgrounds, as well as corporates. They should be commercially-minded. They should be accustomed to attracting new clients. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the development of the department and firm. Applicants will be expected to give specific examples of cases that they have personally managed from a pre-action strage through to trial/court disposal, and cases in which they have negotiated settlement. They will be expected to talk in detail about their financial performance and ability to meet targets. A 2:1 degree and merit at LPC (or equivalent qualificaitons) are desirable. It is essential that the successful applicant has excellent IT skills, including the intermediate-level features of Microsoft Office and prior use of case management systems.
