Working within the IS technical delivery team as a Virtual Server Engineer (we call it a IS Technical specialist here at Home Group), you’ll be responsible for the implementation of solutions such as building servers for technologies, VMware, and Cloud tech such as Azure. Home Group are embarking on a Datacentre and Networks rationalisation programme, with our Virtual Server Engineer at the centre. You’ll work in a large team of sociable and lively Service Improvement professionals for Matt, our IS Technical Delivery Manager. He’s a massive football fan (both as an armchair watcher and on the pitch in his weekly 5 a side kickaround). When not watching or playing footie, Matt loves hard rock and heavy metal and is already planning his next gigs and festivals. He is also responsible for ensuring that we deliver the IS Services the business needs to succeed, driving continual service improvement and ensuring IS adds real value… Where and when you work Here at Home Group we believe flexibility works both ways. A bit about you You are a domain expert in your technical disciplines and work closely with our business to understand their requirements and how our technical portfolio can support and deliver business benefit. The key technologies you’ll be working on will be the Microsoft’s Cloud tech Azure. Ideally you’ll have worked with this technology before and have experience in moving services from on-premise into either public or private clouds. You will need to have experience in designing, implementing and migrating datacentres, including networking skills in LAN/WAN/MPLS. It would be great if you had the right certificates, however we appreciate that you might have some great transferrable skills and the desire to work towards getting certified. Amongst some of the skills we are looking for are;- An extensive experience in the following technologies: VMware/Cisco/Microsoft (inc cloud and powershell) with VCP, MCSE or CCNA qualifications preferable. Experience of delivering technical projects in both agile and waterfall environments would definitely help You have a strong customer focus, seeking out ways to provide a high quality outcomes for your internal customers. You’re an excellent communicator adapting your message to the group or audience and ensuring that your understanding is clear at all times. You combine these skills with excellent negotiation and relationship building skills, allowing you achieve the best outcomes. You’re also highly committed to continuous improvement, for yourself, to processes and for the business. You will have experience of working on both technical projects and support, preferably in a systems administrator role. Benefits?
