Highways Technology Design Engineer (Junior/Graduate Level) £25K to £30K ( Car / Car Allowance) Birmingham, West Midlands The Opportunity: Our client is looking for a career driven individual to join their expanding Highways Technology Design team based in Birmingham. The purpose of these positions is to provide schemes for the placement of a variety of roadside technologies alongside the nation’s main highways and trunk roads. These technologies will include (but are not limited to) Variable Message Signs, MIDAS loops, Emergency Roadside Phones, ANPR and CCTV cameras. If you are looking to jumpstart your career and are interested in working towards professional qualifications (i.e. EngTech, MIET, IEng to CEng) then this could be the role for you. Role and Responsibilities: To assist with projects geared towards the planning and design of Highways Technology Schemes Prepare technical design packages including CAD drawings and specifications Liaising and attending meetings with clients such as the police and local highway authority Conduct desktop and on-site surveys and studies on potential problems with proposed technology schemes Provide reports and recommend potential solutions for highways technology scheme issues Skills and Experience: A degree or equivalent experience in a technology based engineering discipline (electronic /electrical engineering, communications) Experience of design calculations and drawings, along with the ability to communicate these in a non-technical way An understanding or power and/or communications infrastructure Exposure to some form of roadside technology would be an advantage (Intelligent transport systems, MIDAS, CCTV, VMS, NRTS, street lighting) Full UK Driving Licence Applications: To hear more about this opportunity to work as a (Junior/Graduate) Highways Technology Design Engineer based in Birmingham; please call James Sample here at ISR Recruitment here in our Manchester offices on 0161 973 2533 or send me your latest CV or online profile for an immediate call back.
