We are seeking to recruit progressive career minded Senior Highways Design Engineers who have gained proven work experience in the design of UK highways schemes to work on a high profile, multi-million pound highways maintenance renewals package and other major highway projects. To be considered for this role we are seeking candidates with the following credentials: Minimum Academic Qualifications You will hold a BEng / BSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent plus preferably chartered or working to towards chartership. Sufficient and Appropriate Essential Experience including (but not limited to); * Experience in Highway Maintenance Design including Detailed Design * Proven experience in leading the team of design engineers and technicians * Proven experience of coordinating design with other disciplines like bridges, drainage, utilities and landscape etc to resolve the clashes and design interface issues. * Proven experience in project work on multi-disciplinary Highway Projects * Proven experience in reviewing and checking of highway design drawings and specifications to current standards * Proven experience in preparing departures applications independently * Proven experience in CDM compliance and Design Risk Assessments * Proven ability in Quality System Control * Ability to work in a fast paced environment delivering multiple maintenance schemes * Strong co-ordination and communication abilities. * Able to co-ordinate with multiple stakeholders to meet challenging delivery timescales. Additional Preference Experience * Design and Supervision for maintenance schemes * Experience in vehicle restraint systems design and other highway furniture Duties & Responsibilities Reporting to the Team Leader / Discipline Leader, you will manage design delivery of assigned packages and leading the team of junior engineers and technicians. You will be responsible for the design delivery within budget and deadline coordinating with other disciplines and stakeholders to resolve design interface issues and resolve any clashes ensuring compliance with design standards. Your role will also encompass the control, coordination and supervision of less experienced Junior and Apprentice Engineers / Technicians ensuring that their work is in line with our guidelines, comply with quality and project requirements. Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to: * Preparing and reviewing of design drawings, design reports and model productions * Undertaking design checks to ensure the designs are accurate and comply with the technical standards and other best practices. * Preparation and reviewing of design reports * Independently preparing and managing departure from standard applications * Managing the Design Risk Assessments and listing out key design risks on CDM Risk registers * Coordination and resolving the technical issues * Managing the design delivery within budget and deadline and raising any delivery risks in a timely fashion * Mentoring other junior members of the design team in their development * Developing and maintaining professional relationships with other disciplines designers and technical leads. * Ensuring the design complies with the relevant Health & Safety regulations * Document management, including project / drawing registers Why Arcadis?
