About the Science Department There is a range of experience and expertise in the Science department and we encourage all of our teachers to become active in their own professional development and learning. Consequently, we not only have a large Science Leadership Team, but we are also currently developing a team of Lead Practitioners within the department and across the School. At the forefront of our philosophy is a desire to maximise the potential of all our pupils, and we devote a considerable amount of departmental time to developing and sharing good practice. In recent years AS and A2 results in Science have been outstanding. At KS3 and KS4 we continue to exceed national expectations. Despite these successes, we strive for improvement and a reflective, collaborative and dynamic approach is key to the Department's ethos. You will be able to teach general science up to KS3 and KS4.The successful applicant may be responsible for a tutor group within a year system. Applicants will be ambitious and an inspirational teacher who is an outstanding team-player and who thrives on new challenges. The Science Department is one of the largest in the school and comprises full-time and part-time teaching staff, supported by Teaching and Learning Supports Assistants and Laboratory Technicians. The department is housed in fifteen laboratories in the Main Block, served by four preparation areas. At Key Stage 4, pupils follow either, AQA GCSE combined science Trilogy route, or AQA GCSE in the separate Sciences. In the Sixth Form, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics are all offered at A-Level.
