Overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Planner to join a leading warehousing and distribution businesses on a full time, permanent basis in the Peterborough area. This is a Mon to Fri days position. The business is a well established, recognised brand and very successful in what they do. They are looking for a pro-active Transport Planner, ideally experienced in the groupage/haulage industry with full load distribution planning expertise. Directly reporting into the Distribution Manager, you will enjoy the buzz of a busy transport environment and be responsible for planning a fleet of around 40, 18 tonne and artic vehicles. The role requires an individual who has a real commercial focus and is competent in planning for both full and part loads and has experience of the general haulage industry and in working with 3PL companies. Your focus will be on making money, reducing costs and pro-actively looking at ways to make the whole operation as efficient as it can be. Excellent geographical knowledge is a given. Identifying areas of continuous improvement will come naturally to you, and the end customer will always be a priority to you. It is essential that you possess excellent communication and organisational skills, are flexible, show a willingness in wanting to get stuck in and can work effectively in a small, friendly hard-working team. It would be an advantage if you have experience of working with planning tools (such as Sterling), but what is a requirement will be having the right attitude, working professionally, using your initiative an doing what it takes to deliver.
